Mission
The Mission Statement of Vulcan Materials Company states that Vulcan “will be a good corporate citizen in each community in which we operate. We will support and take an active part in public and charitable projects.” Vulcan established the Vulcan Materials Company Foundation in 1988 to assist in carrying out that mission. Because contributions made by the Foundation are corporate-based business dollars, it is essential that they be made in a planned and consistent manner that best serves the combined interests of Vulcan and the communities in which we operate.

The Foundation supports many types of worthwhile organizations that enhance the quality of life in Vulcan’s communities. The Vulcan Materials Foundation focuses on three areas in particular:
- Working with schools;
- Supporting environmental stewardship; and
- Encouraging employee involvement.
Education
A major focus of the Foundation is to play a part in maintaining or improving the quality of life and standard of living through the support of education.
The Foundation will consider proposals that provide public education programs and projects that enhance the quality of learning for all students. The Foundation works to support efforts to improve educational systems and individual schools in Vulcan’s communities by partnering with public schools located in its operating areas. Vulcan has adopted 276 schools in its communities through support from the Foundation. It is Vulcan’s goal to increase the number of its school partnerships every year.
The Foundation is also interested in efforts to encourage young people to develop an interest in math, science and business. The Foundation, therefore, gives consideration to proposals designed to help maintain students’ curiosity and excitement about the world of math and science and to explore the world of industry and business. The Foundation is particularly interested in helping young people and their teachers understand the relevance of math and science to society, and supports efforts to link these subjects to their application in the workplace. The Foundation also will consider programs designed to educate our students about the vital role of business and industry in society.
Higher education will play an increasingly critical role in helping the economy effectively compete in the global market. The Foundation recognizes the invaluable contributions made by institutions of higher learning in educating the nation’s future workforce.
The Foundation will consider proposals from those institutions located in states where the Company has facilities, particularly proposals that focus on science and engineering or improving public education. Although proposals for capital improvements will be considered, the Foundation prefers to fund projects that directly affect the outcome of the educational process, such as scholarships and science and technology programs.
Environmental Stewardship
The Foundation supports the philosophy that economic development and environmental stewardship have common goals. Responsible economic growth provides the resources necessary to be a good steward of the environment, while this stewardship helps to sustain growth.
There are important links between industry, the environment and technological innovation. A society that is better informed about environmental issues will be able to participate more effectively in public policy debates. Grantmaking will focus on organizations and programs that seek to develop an understanding of the connection between environmental stewardship and sustainable development.
The Foundation will consider supporting those environmental organizations that adhere to fact-based, balanced environmental principles.
Employee Involvement
Vulcan has a history of encouraging its employees to participate in volunteer activities in their communities. We recognize that our workforce offers a unique resource to provide leadership in the communities where we operate. Thus, high priority will be given by the Foundation to proposals from those organizations in which company employees are actively involved, especially in our focus areas of education and environmental stewardship.
Geographic Funding Priorities
In addition to the corporate headquarters, located in Birmingham, Alabama, there are eight Construction Materials divisions. Further, Vulcan has 400* active aggregates facilities located in 22 states, the District of Columbia, U.S. Virgin Islands, Canada, and Mexico and the Bahamas. Regarding proposals submitted to the Foundation, first consideration will be given to those organizations that will benefit the communities where Vulcan employees live and work. The Foundation’s giving program is decentralized to spread ownership of the program to a wider base. Because unit managers are directly involved with the communities where they do business, decentralization enables the Foundation to be more informed about, and to better address, local needs. Proposals submitted to the Foundation should be sent directly to the charitable contributions officer in the appropriate geographical area.

Mike & Gillian Goodrich Foundation
Background
Since 2009, the Mike & Gillian Goodrich Foundation has been providing grants to nonprofit organizations in our community, the Black Belt, and the state as a whole to support a variety of programs. From education to the environment, from the cultural arts to neighborhood revitalization, the Foundation has distributed over $26,000,000 in grants to 221 organizations whose work we are proud to support.
The Mike & Gillian Goodrich Foundation seeks to strengthen communities and improve the quality of life primarily in the Birmingham metropolitan area and the State of Alabama.
Our Service Area
The Mike & Gillian Goodrich Foundation focuses its grantmaking in the Birmingham metropolitan area. Special consideration is given to support programs that serve the Woodlawn community in Birmingham.
The Foundation will also support efforts that build opportunities in the Black Belt of Alabama, particularly Hale and Greene Counties. Grants that impact the State of Alabama as a whole or that impact policy issues affecting all Alabamians will also be considered.
Grants from the Mike & Gillian Goodrich Foundation are made to support programs that impact:
- The Birmingham metro area;
- The Woodlawn area of Birmingham;
- The Black Belt area in Alabama;
- The State of Alabama as a whole, through influencing policy change at the state level.
Our Program Areas
The Foundation is interested in developing partnerships with nonprofit organizations to achieve measurable results in the following areas:
- Education
- We believe that every child should have the educational resources to become a successful adult. Based on our belief that education is still the best road out of poverty, the Mike & Gillian Goodrich Foundation supports a strong education pipeline. Grants are made to support efforts in early childhood to help children be ready to learn when they enter the school system. Other grants support teachers, students and families to help more children achieve and succeed. These include grants to improve academic outcomes through teacher and principal coaching as well as support for meeting non-academic needs, like physical and mental health needs.
- Neighborhood Revitalization
- We believe in the Purpose Built Communities’ holistic model for rebuilding strong neighborhoods. A strong cradle – to – adult educational pipeline, affordable mixed-income housing, wrap-around social services and local economic revitalization are necessary components for creating livable communities and helping to break the cycle of poverty.
- The Environment
- We believe that the protection of our natural resources and green spaces are vital to the environment and to the health of our communities.
- The Arts and Culture
- We believe that the cultural arts enrich lives and are an integral part of a dynamic and vibrant community.
- Positioning Strategic Community Assets
- We believe that the success of our community depends on the strength of its intrinsic partners – those institutions that represent the best of Birmingham. We are committed to their success.
Grant applications must be geared toward achieving specific results in these focus areas.
Program, Operating and Capital Campaign Grants
We fund capital campaigns and provide grants for operating and programmatic support to organizations engaged in activities that align with the Foundation’s funding interests listed above.
- Program grants are grants of up to $30,000 to support a specific program.
- Operating grants of any amount may be applied for in up to three year increments with an annual review.
- Our goal is to help our grantees focus more on their missions and less on application cycles.
- Capital Campaign grants of any amount will be considered in the first and third quarters of each year (deadline February 1 and August 1).

CSX Charitable Investments- In Kind Donations

CSX is proud to support people and organizations that in turn honor those who serve our communities. We offer monetary and in-kind resources to nonprofit organizations advocating for the betterment of our nation’s military members or community first responders, and have additional resources available to support other community efforts.
In Kind Donations
Intermodal Transportation Services
Intermodal transportation services provide applicable organizations with intermodal equipment and rail service throughout the CSX rail network, and afford these organizations an opportunity to reduce or eliminate their transportation spending.
Ideally, intermodal moves work best when freight is moving 500 miles or more. However, the in-kind moves program requires only that freight have an origin and destination within a combined 250 miles’ distance to a CSX intermodal facility.
CSX’s door-to-door product is an ideal solution for the in-kind moves program, as our trained team will pick up your freight at its origin and transport it to a terminal to be placed on an intermodal train. Then, we will pick up your freight at the destination terminal and deliver it directly to its endpoint. The door-to-door network provides service across the Eastern United States with its large nationwide network and trucking capability.
CSX will also work with you to determine the type of equipment that is an ideal fit to transport your freight. CSX has a large fleet of rail-owned containers, as well as an expansive network of channel partners that can provide equipment to fit your needs.
Railroad Equipment and Materials
CSX occasionally donates materials, supplies and used railroad equipment based on availability. The online in-kind application can be used to request the donation of railroad-related items, including retired rail cars when available. Please note that rail, rail ties and spikes are not available for donation or purchase. Applicants will be contacted if the requested item becomes available within 90 days of their online submittal. At that time, arrangements will be made to transfer possession of the requested item. All applicants will be asked to re-submit their application at a later date if the requested item does not become available within the 90-day period.

About Us
The Petfinder Foundation is a public charity that works to end the euthanasia of adoptable pets by assisting animal shelters and rescue groups across North America. Founded in 2003, the Petfinder Foundation has given more than $20 million in cash and product grants to help organizations save the lives of pets in need.
Our grant programs are designed to make homeless pets more adoptable by keeping them happy and healthy, to make shelter operations more sustainable, and to aid adoption groups during times of natural or man-made disaster. Our grant recipients include more than 13,000 organizations, caring for more than 300,000 homeless pets at any given time, throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
P.L.A.Y. Pet Beds
The Petfinder Foundation has partnered with P.L.A.Y. Pet Lifestyle and You through the Warm Bellies Initiative to give luxury beds to shelter pets. P.L.A.Y. joins us in the belief that every pet deserves a warm and cozy place to sleep.
Applications are reviewed and awarded 10 Chill Pads on a monthly basis to specific geographical regions. You may apply for this grant program once. Grant applications from this program are reviewed based on the location of your organization and the monthly state awarding schedule below:

Turner Industries Fund Grant
Baton Rouge Area Foundation
Purpose
Since it was founded nearly 60 years ago, Turner Industries has grown to be one of the nation’s leading heavy industrial contractors. Founder Bert S. Turner (now deceased) and his wife, Sue, and their children have taken an interest from the very beginning in steadily investing charitable dollars back into the communities in which the company works. As the company has grown in size and number of locations across the country, so have the number of recipients the company has been able to assist. Turner Industries benefits workforce development and community improvement as it relates to health and education.
The Turner Industries Fund at the Baton Rouge Area Foundation invites you to apply for grant funding for your organization through this process. The Fund committee meets on a semi-annual basis to review grant requests and will look forward to reviewing your submission.

J. Bulow Campbell Foundation Grant
J. Bulow Campbell Foundation
The J. Bulow Campbell Foundation was established in 1940 through the estate of J. Bulow Campbell, an Atlanta businessman, civic leader, and philanthropist. Mr. Campbell was modest and frugal and did not seek recognition for his good works. He was skilled in business and also a deeply committed Christian. The Foundation is guided by Mr. Campbell’s instructions and seeks to reflect his philosophy of giving, his legacy of careful stewardship, and his Christian faith.
The Campbell Foundation began with $7 million in 1940 and, since then, has awarded over $800 million in grants. The Foundation awards grants without public recognition, and is governed by a board of seven trustees who serve without compensation.
Focus Areas
The Foundation focuses on organizations in Atlanta and Georgia, but it also can consider grants to those in the five surrounding states. It meets quarterly and awards most of its grants for capital purposes within the areas of education, youth development, human services, public spaces, and cultural institutions.

We are a public foundation created to serve southern communities and organizations seeking social, economic, and environmental justice by providing them with financial resources, opportunities for technical assistance and training, and access to systems of information and power.
Purpose
Develop and nurture grassroots community-based leaders and organizers. Build the capacity of their organizations. Strengthen rural communities and people. Develop equitable peer relationships, which support real transformation toward a just society.

We must build our strength and unity by incorporating standards of integrity, respect, love, diversity, quality and interconnectedness.
Please note over the next four years SPF will focus on three primary issue areas in its grantmaking: Education Reform; Immigration Rights; and Voter Engagement
The Discretionary Fund
Existing grantee partners as well as organizations new to SPF may apply for funding. All applicants should fall within the scope of the SPF mission and guidelines: grassroots community organizing for economic, social and environmental justice, in rural communities in the South.
Discretionary support includes (not limited to) grants for capacity building, community organizing events and/or activities, and voter engagement activities. There are three primary funding areas within discretionary
- General Discretionary: community organizing activities or small projects that aim to create change in SPF’s 12-state region.
- Technical Assistance: capacity building, strategic planning, organizational development, trainings and technology upgrades.
- Travel Assistance: conference travel and participation or civic engagement activities.
Discretionary fund resources are limited. Organizations may submit a maximum of two requests per year for a total reward of $3,500 per year.

Southern Partners Fund
Mission
The mission of Southern Partners Fund (SPF) is to serve rural Southeastern communities and organizations seeking social, economic and environmental justice by providing them with financial resources, technical assistance, training and access to systems of information and power. There are two central ideas embraced in the democratic philanthropy of Southern Partners Fund: compassion and community. Compassion implies an understanding or concern for community members lacking local political power to impact the decisions that affect their lives. Community relates to the things that bring us and hold us together.Purpose
The Purpose of SPF Grantmaking is to:
- Develop and nurture grassroots community-based leaders and organizers.
- Build the capacity of rural, grassroots community organizing groups and leaders.
- Strengthen rural communities and people.
- Develop equitable peer relationships, which support real transformation toward a just society.
Hubert E. Sapp Regular Grants Cycle
Hubert Ellis Sapp, a transformative visionary and grassroots organizer, was instrumental in turning the concept of Southern Partners Fund, a democratically led foundation directed by grassroots leaders, into a reality. To honor his legacy in the wake of his passing in February of 2021, we are honored to add his name to our Regular Grant Cycle, which from here on, will be referred to as the Hubert E. Sapp Regular Grant Cycle.
- Applicants may request general support or project support.
- Applicants must have operating budgets of $350,000 or less to receive general support.
- Organizations with operating budgets over $350,000 can apply for project support only.
Members of SPF’s grants committee will contact organizations being considered to schedule a site visit, required for new applicants, or phone interview. SPF’s grants committee, made up of SPF members, makes grants decisions during a September grants panel meeting, which are then ratified by the Board. Groups will be notified of grants decisions after October 1st, 2024.
If an organization has received five consecutive years of regular grant cycle funding, it must take a year off before making a new RGC grant request.
Presentation Grants Program
Presentation Grants are an opportunity for organizations in South Arts' nine-state region to receive fee support to present Southern guest film directors, visual and performing artists, or writers from outside of the presenter's state. Artist fee support is awarded for:
- film (documentary, fiction, experimental, and animation),
- performing arts (theater, music, opera, musical theater, and dance),
- literary arts (fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry),
- traditional arts, and
- visual arts (crafts, drawing, experimental, painting, photography, sculpture, and mixed media).
Projects must include both a public presentation (film screening, performance, reading, or exhibition) and an educational/community engagement component. These grants are limited and very competitive. Based on the artist fee, the maximum request is $9,500 for modern dance and contemporary ballet or $7,500 for other artistic disciplines.
South Arts is committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. We have prioritized this commitment to ensure that Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) led organizations, LGBTQIA+ led organizations, and organizations representing persons with disabilities are represented as both applicants and grantees. In addition, we encourage applications for projects that engage BIPOC artists, LGBTQIA+ artists, and artists with disabilities.
Sundt Foundation Grant

Founded in 1999, the Sundt Foundation was created to give Sundt employee-owners a way to give back to the communities where they live and work. Today, the Sundt Foundation remains true to its original mission, fostering a sense of connection and belonging in our local communities. The Sundt Foundation provides volunteer and grant opportunities to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations in its regional areas.
Giving Guidelines
Employee-owner committees are responsible for Foundation grantmaking designated in the areas of youth development, hunger & nutrition, basic needs & social services, and military & veterans.
Cross-Sector Impact Grants
South Arts recognizes that as our communities continue to change, the arts play an incomparable role in addressing many of our communal and individual challenges and strengths. Further, the value of partnership and working together across sectors brings new opportunities, increased effectiveness, and greater depth to our collective work. Through this program, South Arts seeks to provide significant support to projects developed by partners that harness the power of “Arts & …”.
South Arts is committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. Cross-Sector Impact Grants are open to all art forms, for partnership projects taking place in South Arts’ nine-state region. Eligible projects will continue to feature “Arts & …”, for example, arts and the military, arts and equity, arts and aging, arts and community revitalization. Applicants may be organizations, units of government, higher educational institutions, or artists.
For applicants new to this program that did not receive a Cross-Sector Impact Grant in FY20, FY21 or FY22, matching grants of up to $15,000 will be awarded. For these projects, South Arts encourages applications for new projects. However, projects that deepen and expand existing partnerships may also apply. For applicants/projects that did receive funding through this program in FY20, FY21, or FY22 matching grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded in order to continue or advance the project. South Arts anticipates that this grant program will be highly competitive and that successful applications will be fully funded.
South Arts’ mission is advancing Southern vitality through the arts. This program addresses two of South Arts’ strategic goals:
- Connect artists and arts professionals in the South to resources that will increase opportunities for success within and outside the region
- Advance impactful arts-based programs that recognize and address trends and evolving needs of a wide range of communities in the South
Project Requirements
South Arts welcomes proposals from partnering entities working together on a project that addresses arts and community impact through cross-sector partnership. Projects must utilize the arts as a tool in creative approaches to address and advance an issue that is of importance in their community. Projects should also establish or advance relationships across at least two different sectors, one being in the arts.
Arts disciplines may include, but are not limited to:
- Performing arts, including dance, music, theater, musical theater, and opera;
- Literary arts, including fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry;
- Visual arts, including craft, drawing, experimental, painting, photography, sculpture, mixed media;
- Film or media;
- Traditional and folk arts, including music, craft, storytelling, dance; or
- Multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary artforms.
Community impact areas may include, but are not limited to:
- Education, including literacy, youth development;
- Environment, including sustainability, weather impact;
- Health and human services, including aging, prisons and rehabilitation, military;
- Infrastructure, including housing, community revitalization, food and nutrition; or
- Social justice, including immigration, community activation, equity and accessibility.
Matching Requirements
For applicants/projects that are new to this program, the minimum grant request for this program is $5,000; the maximum request is $15,000. For applicants/projects that did receive funding in FY20, FY21 and/or FY22, the minimum grant request for this program is $5,000; the maximum request is $10,000.
A match of at least 1:2 is required, meaning for each grant-funded dollar, the grantee must provide $.50 towards the project.
Up to half of the match may be comprised of in-kind contributions such as donated materials, donated services, or other contributed non-cash assets or staff time diverted to this project. At least half of the match must be cash and cannot include salaried staff time allocated to this project. However, contracted services specifically for this project may be included in the cash match.

Guidelines
Grants from National Trust Preservation Funds (NTPF) are intended to encourage preservation at the local level by supporting on-going preservation work and by providing seed money for preservation projects. These grants help stimulate public discussion, enable local groups to gain the technical expertise needed for preservation projects, introduce the public to preservation concepts and techniques, and encourage financial participation by the private sector.
A small grant at the right time can go a long way and is often the catalyst that inspires a community to take action on a preservation project. Grants generally start at $2,500 and range up to $5,000. The selection process is very competitive.
Eligible Activities
National Trust Preservation Fund grants are awarded for planning activities and education efforts focused on preservation. Grant funds can be used to launch new initiatives or to provide additional support to on-going efforts.
Planning: Supporting existing staff (nonprofit applicants only) or obtaining professional expertise in areas such as architecture, archaeology, engineering, preservation planning, land-use planning, and law. Eligible planning activities include, but are not limited to:
- Hiring a preservation architect or landscape architect, or funding existing staff with expertise in these areas, to produce a historic structure report or historic landscape master plan.
- Hiring a preservation planner, or funding existing staff with expertise in this area, to produce design guidelines for a historic district.
- Hiring a real estate development consultant, or funding existing staff with expertise in this area, to produce an economic feasibility study for the reuse of a threatened structure.
- Sponsoring a community forum to develop a shared vision for the future of a historic neighborhood.
- Organizational capacity building activities such as hiring fundraising consultants, conducting board training, etc.
Education and Outreach: Support for preservation education activities aimed at the public. The National Trust is particularly interested in programs aimed at reaching new audiences. Funding will be provided to projects that employ innovative techniques and formats aimed at introducing new audiences to the preservation movement, whether that be through education programming or conference sessions.

Legends & Folklore Guidelines
Successful Legends & Lore marker applications typically fall within three main categories:
Folktale- Fictional stories passed down about people or events not proven to have existed. (e.g. Thirteen Curves, Champy, Headless Horseman, Tramping Ground)
Legends- Stories passed down that are popularly regarded as historical although not verifiable. (e.g. John Henry, Grancer’s Ghost, Betsy’s Ride, Natty Bumppo, “Natty Bumppo”)
Folklife- Traditions such as music, skills, crafts, and events passed along within a community. Often involving real people that can be verified with primary sources. (e.g. “Goose Day,” The Arborglyphs, Dennis McGee, Herbs & Healing, Folk Singer)

We want to give every event we are involved in the best chance for success, which means we need time to plan. While 8 weeks is our minimum time requirement, additional time is always appreciated, especially for larger events.
- We do very little traditional advertising, instead we focus our efforts on sponsorships. When we partner with an event or an organization, we like to be involved! That said, if your proposal only involves a logo placement, we will politely decline in favor of events that offer us a chance to interact with our fans.
- We’re an eccentric bunch here at Bell’s and love to be involved with events that reflect your community’s eccentricities, uniqueness and inclusivity.
- We are always happy to consider requests for donations of Bell’s swag for homebrew competitions, fundraisers and events! That said, due to Michigan state law, we are not legally allowed to donate beer to events in any state. We’re sorry, but we legally cannot make any exceptions.

Our Birth Justice Initiative aims to:
- advance equitable birth outcomes and experiences;
- strengthen the capacity, organizational infrastructure, and financial stability of grassroots Black, Indigenous and women of color-led birth justice organizations; and
- expand the frame of birth justice to support intersectional movements and strategies that recognize the full spectrum of experiences and identities in birthing, parenting, and family building.
We believe that Black, Indigenous, and women of color (including trans women and non-binary people) are key experts and should be decision-makers in shaping policy and culture change around birth justice. By investing directly into organizations led by and for women and girls of color, we are ensuring that the movement to address racial based disparities in healthcare, including birth outcomes and experiences, is led by those who are impacted most. Strengthening the collective power of communities of color is critical to addressing the root causes of these disparities and advancing birth justice for all.
The U.S. has one of the highest maternal mortality rates of all developed nations and Black women die at three to four times the rate of white women in birth – one of the widest racial disparities in women’s health. Systemic racism, implicit bias, and anti-Blackness all contribute to the significant disparities in birth outcomes among Black, Indigenous and birthing people of color. Moreover, the spectrum of intersectional issues that comprise birth justice and the ability to have children and parent with dignity, are not only limited to the birth process.
As such, the Ms. Foundation’s Birth Justice Initiative invests in organizations who represent the full spectrum of birth experiences including–but not limited to–preconception health, mental health and wellness, infertility, abortion access and abortion care, comprehensive sex and sexuality education, non-racist culturally affirming and gender expansive healthcare, access to birth workers of color, access to lactation support and services, postpartum health and wellness, grief and loss care and support, and sexual assault prevention and survivor support services. Organizations supported collectively utilize a range of movement building strategies to advance birth justice—such as narrative change, policy and systems change, advocacy, leadership development, direct service among others. And finally, they work at the intersection of birth justice and other movements, such as disability justice, youth justice, LGBTQIA+ justice, environmental justice, economic justice, and criminal legal reform.
Funding
During this cycle, Ms. will provide one-time grants ranging from $50,000 to $100,000 to selected organizations not currently receiving funding from Ms.’ Birth Justice Initiative. The grant period will comprise two years.

AARP Foundation has specific objectives that focus on achieving outcomes for older adults with low income by increasing income and decreasing expenditures, primarily through gainful employment, accessing benefits, and securing refunds and credits. Our work prioritizes equitable strategies and services that address systemic barriers, racial and ethnic disparities, and other biases that perpetuate economic instability.
Building Capacity to Increase Older Adult Access to Health Essentials Programs
With this Request for Application (RFA), AARP Foundation seeks to support local, regional or national partners to build their capacity to connect adults age 50 and older to programs that increase access and affordability of food, health care and medicine (“health essentials programs”).
Examples of health essentials programs include but are not limited to:
- Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
- Medicaid
- Medicare Savings Programs (MSPs)
- Low-Income Subsidy (LIS)/Extra Help
- Food Is Medicine, including medically tailored meals or groceries, and produce prescriptions
- Social determinants of health screening and intervention
Capacity building grants offer up to $50,000 to support direct service organizations in their efforts to work more efficiently and effectively for and with older adults. These grants are intended to aid organizational development at a structural level. Capacity Building grants are not intended to pay for general operating expenses or existing programs and services. These projects should instead focus on enhancing, optimizing or streamlining resources, processes, or programs to better assist eligible older adults with enrollment in multiple benefits during and beyond the grant cycle. Proposals must demonstrate that the expanded capacity is sustainable (financially and operationally) beyond the project lifecycle.
Projects in the following categories are eligible:- Planning activities or building evaluation capacity (e.g., strategic planning, enhancing evaluation methods, organizational assessments)
- Partnership/relationship development (e.g., creating referral networks/platforms, developing collaborative services, shared trainings)
- Operations (e.g., opening a new call center/location, improving infrastructure to enhance services, developing sustainability models)
- Technology (e.g., new client platforms, enhancing data tracking, analysis, or reporting, CRMs)
AARP Foundation is exploring how to support CBOs to authentically engage older adults to co- create solutions as a part of program planning. We are interested in proposals that include lived experience with a preference for community-led or co-designed projects. The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services defines people with lived experience as “those directly affected by social, health, public health, or other issues and by the strategies that aim to address those issues.” Lived experience provides “knowledge based on someone’s perspective, personal identities, and history, beyond their professional or educational experience.” Examples of people with lived experience for this grant may include people who are:
- Participating in health essentials programs but do not benefit at the same rate as others
- Eligible for but do not or cannot access health essentials programs
- Not currently eligible for but could benefit from health essentials programs
- Family members or caregivers of those involved in or eligible for health essentials programs
