Nonmedical Drivers of Health Grant 

Through the Nonmedical Drivers of Health Grant, nonprofit organizations can apply for support focused on one of two grant priority pillars: Healthy Neighborhoods or Education & Economic Empowerment. This funding is programmatic support for services provided to the Greater Houston area. Applicants must clearly describe how the funding will impact the community and must be able to track unique individuals served and program outcomes. 

Healthy Neighborhoods Grants

Houston Methodist defines healthy neighborhoods grants as initiatives designed to address the most urgent nonmedical drivers of health within our communities. These drivers of health are identified through the Houston Methodist Community Health Needs Assessment as the areas that are creating barriers to positive health outcomes, but also have significant resource gaps within the greater Houston community. They include food insecurity and access to healthy food, utilities, housing, social connectivity, and transportation.

Qualifying Program Activities

• Program addressing food insecurity
• Programs providing access to healthy foods
• Transportation services
• Utility assistance
• Housing programs including long term/short term housing and shelter
• Rental assistance
• Home repair programs
• Programs addressing social connectivity and social isolation
• Case management to support any of the above nonmedical drivers

Kathleen Cailloux Family Foundation

The KCF Foundation is a nonprofit private foundation that supports charities in Texas. The Foundation was created to carry on Kathleen Cailloux’s philanthropic wishes. Currently, the KCF Foundation endeavors to assist select Central and South Texas communities.

The Kathleen Cailloux Family Foundation’s mission is to promote charitable, educational, literary, and scientific agendas that advance the health or education of the Central and South Texas population.

Mental Health Care Access Grant

One in five people in the United States are estimated to experience mental illness every year. Due to the growing need for mental health services, Houston Methodist offers the Mental Health Care Access Grant to local nonprofits working to reduce barriers to accessing mental health care services for indigent members of the Greater Houston community.

Family Support Services (FSS) Community Services Grant (CSG)

This funding opportunity invites grant Applications requesting funding for the CSG program. The purpose of the CSG Project is to connect Participants in need with community crisis pregnancy services, foster care outreach services, and community supports. The CSG program is entirely voluntary and free-of-charge to enrolled Participants. This program is designed to enhance local coordination and navigation of services for children, youth, and families through capacity building and support for innovative and sustainable models for community and family navigation services. 

Friends of NRA

Friends of NRA is the National Rifle Association’s premier fundraising program, supporting the future of shooting sports. Since day one, Friends of NRA has been a 100% grassroots effort fueled by a united front to secure the Second Amendment and raise money for the shooting sports.

Committee volunteers are appointed to State Fund Committees to make recommendations for local grant funding in areas such as youth education, women-focused clinics, law enforcement training, hunter safety, range improvement, firearms and marksmanship training and safety. Recognizing the impact American youth has on the future of the shooting sports, State Fund Committees frequently recommend grants for youth programs, allocating the most significant portion of monies to this vital area.

Grant awards fund activities and support programs in the United States to promote firearms and hunting safety, to enhance marksmanship skills of those in the shooting sports, and to educate the public about firearms in their historic, technological and artistic context.

Friends of NRA State Fund Grant Program - Texas

The Friends of NRA State Fund Grant Program provides supplies, equipment, and financial support to a variety of qualified groups and programs at the local level; geared towards youth, women, law enforcement, veterans, the disabled, and the general public, including:

• General shooting programs
• Competitive shooting
• Education, training and safety
• Hunting and conservation
• Community outreach
• Historical education

Grant funding must be used to further a charitable purpose as defined by the Internal Revenue Code under section 501(c)(3) and accompanying rules, regulations, and other IRS law and materials.
