The MNRS originally began to provide a place for nurses to collaborate, and collaborate they did! Over time, the founding members began to realize the benefits of having an organization dedicated specifically to nursing research. Distinguished Contribution Award

The purpose of the Distinguished Contribution Award is to recognize the scientific contribution of a member who has conducted or promoted research, which has enhanced the science and practice of nursing in the MNRS region.

Museums and other registered nonprofits in Kansas with organic community gardens that feed low-income communities can receive support for their urban agriculture projects. Nature's Path Organic provides US $3,000 grants to eligible gardens managed organically and serving food banks, shelters, school feeding programs, and similar initiatives across the U.S. and Canada.

Kansas and Missouri high school seniors who are Deaf or hard of hearing can receive scholarship support for 2- or 4-year colleges, universities, or technical programs. Greater Kansas City Community Foundation supports higher and vocational education through the Hear 2 help Scholarship Fund, offering US $1,000 awards to eligible students who meet GPA and documentation requirements.

Harvest Ball Founders' Scholarship Fund

The Harvest Ball Founders’ Scholarship is created to honor the founders of the Harvest Ball Society, Patty Garney and Sandra Doolin Melinger in recognition of the leadership they demonstrated in establishing that organization to address numerous charitable needs in Clay and Platte Counties. The scholarship will be awarded to students in secondary school, military or other organizations who have demonstrated outstanding leadership.

Mid-America Arts Alliance

Mid-America Arts Alliance (M-AAA) believes art can be a catalyst for expression, connection, collaboration, and community. This philosophy is reflected in our mission and values.

M-AAA is a nonprofit, regional arts organization representing Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, and beyond. We focus on strengthening communities and improving lives by supporting artists, elevating arts organizations, and connecting people to extraordinary cultural experiences.

Artistic Innovations Grants for Individual Artists

Program Objectives

The Artistic Innovations program supports the development of new or original works of art across all disciplines, created exclusively by in-region individual artists and art-based organizations in M-AAA’s six-state region (Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, and the Native Nations in this geography). Eligible applicants include individual artists and nonprofit 501(c)(3) arts organizations in the region.

Individual Artist Grant Considerations

The Artistic Innovations grant program supports direct project expenses incurred in the art-making process and production of public-facing engagements to individuals through private funds. These grants are funded through private support and, unlike Artistic Innovations grants to organizations, are not supported by the National Endowment for the Arts.

The Dr. Ralph and Marian Falk Medical Research Trust – Falk Catalyst Awards support high-risk, high-reward biomedical research with up to $350,000 in funding over one to two years. These awards aim to address critical scientific challenges and enable the translation of innovative research into clinical practices. Projects focus on identifying biological markers, therapeutic targets, and developing interventions to disrupt disease processes, ultimately improving treatment outcomes for patients.

Go-Long Scholarship Fund

The Go-Long mantra is to give of oneself, live life fully and to never give up. The Go-Long team was formed in 2002 when a group of football-loving friends decided to give back. Go-Long decided they would seek to enrich the lives of young people who aspired to attend college. They did this by creating a yard work and neighborhood beautification business, in which 100% of all earnings would go to the Go-Long Scholarship Fund. In addition, the Go-Long volunteer team provides scholarship recipients with neighborhood beautification service projects, which raise funds to fuel the next class of Go-Long scholars.

The purpose of the fund is to provide scholarships to students in the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan Area.

Students receiving the scholarship will be expected to complete at least 8 hours of community service when they receive the award.

Scholarships will be awarded on an annual basis and disbursed in equal payments in August and January. Scholarship amounts may vary and are non-renewable.

Genevieve Edmee Lenz Guldner Kansas University Medical Center Scholarship

The purpose of the fund shall be to provide scholarships to Kansas University Medical Center (“KUMC”) students.

 Renewable for 4 years if all requirements are met.

Kansas museums, educational nonprofits, and government entities running firearms, shooting sports, or hunting safety programs can seek funding to support charitable, educational, or research activities. Focused on firearms safety and marksmanship education, the NRA Foundation invites eligible Kansas organizations to apply for US $3,000 - US $5,000 to enhance public-benefit programming.

Elizabeth Miller Watkins Memorial Scholarship Fund

The purpose of the Elizabeth Miller Watkins Scholarship is to assist women students of outstanding scholastic achievement and demonstrated financial need in completing their college education at KU.

Amount: Awards of up to $2,000 per semester will be made to each recipient

Recipients who meet ongoing eligibility requirements may apply for renewal annually.

The Nita M. Lowey 2025 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant Competition is aimed at new applicants who seek to provide expanded learning opportunities outside regular school hours. Managed by the Kansas State Department of Education, this grant supports projects that enhance student achievement, particularly in schools with a significant low-income population. Applicants must collaborate with community organizations and focus on meeting state educational standards.

AABE William Grant Pinkard Scholarship Fund

The American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE) is a professional organization of African Americans in the energy industry. Through its Scholarship Program, AABE seeks to help increase the number of African Americans, Hispanics and Native Americans (underrepresented minorities) in energy related fields. By doing so, we help our nation address a critical need and a challenge to our future economic vitality in the world market.

About William Grant Pinkard II

The William Grant Pinkard Scholarship Fund was named after a member of the Kansas-Missouri Chapter of the AABE who best exemplified the organization’s purpose and goals. William Grant Pinkard, II was a dedicated and active member.

Awards

The Kansas-Missouri Chapter of AABE will award one scholarship of $2,000 per semester paid in August and January. Awards of $1,500 per semester will be issued to community college students. The top winner’s application is forwarded to compete for one of six National AABE Regional Awards of $3,000 per year. Additionally, a “Rufus D. Gladney” Premier Award of $5,000 is given annually to the candidate who is judged to demonstrate the most outstanding achievement and promise. National Awards are made to the students upon presentation of proof of enrollment at an accredited college or university. Distribution of local chapter awards are made at the discretion of the local chapter upon proof of enrollment at an accredited college or university. A William Grant Pinkard Scholar may renew the scholarship for a second year provided documentation that all scholarship guidelines and criteria have been sustained.

The Emergency Community Water Assistance Grants in Kansas provide crucial support to communities facing water emergencies, allowing for the construction and repair of essential water infrastructure. Eligible applicants include state and local governments, nonprofit organizations, and federally recognized tribes. Harriet H. Werley New Investigator Award

The purpose of the Harriet H. Werley New Investigator Award is to recognize the scientific contribution of a new investigator who has conducted nursing research that has the potential to enhance the science and practice of nursing.

The Nita M. Lowey 2025 Grant Competition is designed for re-applicants seeking funding to provide expanded learning opportunities for children outside regular school hours. Administered by the Kansas State Department of Education, this grant focuses on collaborative projects between school districts and community organizations, targeting schools with a 40% or higher free/reduced lunch population. Eligible applicants must have received 21st CCLC funds in the past five years, fostering educational equity and student achievement.

MNRS Lifetime Achievement Award

The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes an MNRS member who has significantly advanced the profession of nursing either through an extensive program of research or creation of environments where research can flourish, and whose sustained leadership and distinguished career yielded outstanding and noteworthy accomplishments. 

The Dr. Carolyn Ghazal Dental Assistant Scholarships, offered by the Pacific Dental Services Foundation, provide financial aid of up to $5,000 for eligible dental assistant students. Applicants must be over 18, U.S. citizens or legal residents, and enrolled in a qualifying program. The scholarship emphasizes mentorship and training, supporting the next generation of dental assistants. Awards are based on financial need and application quality, with multiple cycles each year to support aspiring professionals.

The Patterson Family Foundation supports healthcare workforce development in rural communities across Kansas and western Missouri. Organizations must register for grant consideration, and eligibility includes being a 501(c)(3) nonprofit or government entity. Kansas museums and educational organizations offering agricultural education, youth leadership, or career training programs can apply for the Ag Leadership Grant. Focused on agricultural and cooperative education, CHS Foundation invites projects serving high school students through young professionals, especially initiatives that build understanding of the agricultural cooperative business model.

Museums and educational organizations in Kansas that run agricultural or cooperative education programs for youth can seek support for program-related costs through the CHS Foundation. With a mission to advance agricultural education, CHS Foundation provides funding for innovative, technology-enhanced projects that teach the ag cooperative business model and reach middle school, high school, college students, or young producers.

QTS Student Scholarship

In support of our Core Value of Support for Family, we (Quality Technology Services, LLC) are pleased to offer the QTS Student Scholarship Program. This program provides competitive, need-based scholarships with a maximum annual award of $5,000 which can be used to cover higher education expenses including tuition, room and board, and other institutional expenses related to receiving a degree. The scholarship is renewable for a total of four years of college education as long as the student meets the renewal requirements.

If selected as a recipient, a student will receive a $5,000 scholarship award to be applied in two equal installments for the following academic year of undergraduate study. The first installment will be made prior to the Fall semester after the recipient confirms the college/university in which they will be enrolled with the Greater Kanas City Community Foundation. The second installment will be made once the recipient provides the Community Foundation with their cumulative transcript after the Fall semester demonstrating they have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
