Grid Modernization Grant Program

The State of New Mexico, Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department (EMNRD) Energy Conservation and Management Division (ECAM) is requesting applications pursuant to 17.9.588 New Mexico Administrative Code (NMAC), Grid Modernization Grant Program, from government entities for grid modernization projects to assist New Mexico in developing a modern electric grid that transitions the state to 100-percent zero-carbon electricity resources.

Grid modernization projects are those that make improvements to electric distribution or transmission infrastructure to accommodate or facilitate the integration of renewable electric generation resources with the electric distribution grid or otherwise enhance electric distribution or transmission grid reliability, grid security, demand response capability, customer service or energy efficiency or conservation.

The You Fund Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico, supports students from single-parent households pursuing careers in medicine or law at New Mexico State University or Doña Ana Community College. This initiative aims to empower individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those with disabilities and LGBTQIA+ students. The foundation is dedicated to enhancing educational opportunities and fostering community growth, ensuring that all students have access to the resources they need to thrive.

The Village at Northrise Endowment Fund Scholarship, managed by the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico, aims to support students in their educational pursuits, including undergraduate and vocational programs. The Vescovo Automotive Technology Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico, aims to support students in their second year of the Automotive Technology Program at Doña Ana Community College. Applicants must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher and be actively enrolled. The Sunspot Solar-Mellow & Janet Honek Endowment Scholarship, managed by the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico, supports Native American youth pursuing higher education at NMSU. Nursing scholarships for students at NMSU

The Texas Methodist Foundation Grant supports innovative and sustainable solutions to improve the quality of life for communities in Texas and New Mexico. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) organizations that align with the foundation's mission. This grant cycle offers both competitive and invitation-based funding opportunities aimed at fostering hope, health, and belonging.

The Leonard R. and Lois I. Sugerman Health Sciences Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico, aims to support students enrolled in the Health Science Department at New Mexico State University. This scholarship is designed to assist individuals pursuing various educational paths, including undergraduate and vocational studies, ensuring access to higher education for all students, including those from diverse backgrounds and circumstances.

Land & Water Conservation Fund (LWCF)

Introduction

The Land and Water Conservation Fund Act of 1965 (P.L. 85-578) created a matching grant program to stimulate, encourage, and assist states with the acquisition, development, and expansion of quality outdoor recreation areas and facilities. The Land and Water Conservation Fund Program (LWCF) is a reimbursement grant program funded by revenues generated from outer continental shelf oil and gas drilling. New Mexico is eligible to receive funding allocations from the United States Department of the Interior (DOI) whenever Congress appropriates LWCF funds for this purpose. The Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department (EMNRD), State Parks Division (Division) serves as the agency responsible for the LWCF and the Division is assigned administrative responsibility. The DOI manages the LWCF program through the National Park Service (NPS).

In 2024, New Mexico was allocated approximately $3.51 million by the NPS for local assistance grants to support outdoor recreation and education, education, resource protection, and wetland acquisition across the state.

The Lowell R. Duhrsen II Memorial Endowment Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico, supports students pursuing higher education and professional certifications. The scholarship is open to diverse groups, including BiPOC individuals, those with disabilities, and LGBTQIA+ students. It aims to enhance educational opportunities across various fields, reflecting the foundation's mission to improve quality of life in the region through charitable giving and support for meaningful causes.

The California Casualty Music & Arts Grant supports K-12 public schools facing budget cuts that threaten their music and arts programs. Eligible applicants, who must be active employees of public K-12 schools and members of specified educator associations, can request grants of $250 for music or arts needs. This initiative aims to enhance creative education across the states, excluding AK, HI, MA, MI, NY, and WI. Applications received by July 15 will be notified by November 30.

The Michael D. and Cynthia E. Pinholster Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico, supports undergraduate students attending New Mexico State University. We manage over 300 endowments, including 48 non-profit organizational endowments in Southern New Mexico, and are home to over 40 scholarships and nine annual grant cycles. Myra Covarrubias Special Needs Scholarship

To support a college junior or senior at New Mexico State University majoring in Special Education

Early Childhood Education and Care Department is seeking applications from eligible providers to renew, expand, or create new PreK slots and classrooms statewide, especially in areas of the state where there is a lack of high-quality PreK for children and families.

The New Mexico Arts Commission is the advisory body for New Mexico Arts, a division of the Department of Cultural Affairs. The Commission has 15 members appointed by the governor. Commissioners serve three-year terms.

Arts & The Military Mini Grant Program

The Arts and the Military program of New Mexico Arts coordinates and promotes New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs’ (NMDCA) participation in the national Blue Star Museums program offering free admission to the nation’s active-duty military personnel and their families, including National Guard and Reserve. The Blue Star Museums program is a way for the Department of Cultural Affairs to thank our military families for their service and share with them New Mexico’s cultural treasures.   

Mini Grants Opportunities

The $2,500 Mini Grants program assists organizations creating and expanding arts programming for military connected participants via a streamlined granting process. Mini Grants can also be used to build organizational capacity towards the goal of creating and expanding opportunities for veterans and active-duty service members to engage in the arts. Non-Arts organizations and organizations receiving New Mexico Arts funding in other grant programs can also apply for this New Mexico Arts and the Military Grant opportunity.

The NmSU Alamogordo Foundation Scholarship aims to support NMSU-A students pursuing degrees in technology, nursing, or those who are veterans. Offered by the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico, this scholarship is inclusive, providing financial assistance to a diverse range of applicants, including those from various backgrounds and educational paths. It encourages students actively enrolled in higher education or professional certifications to apply, ensuring access to educational opportunities for all.

The NMSU Sigma Nu Memorial Scholarship Endowment honors Eddie Jaramillo and supports students pursuing higher education in business at NMSU. Managed by the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico, it aims to enhance educational opportunities for diverse individuals, including those from BiPOC, LGBTQIA+, and disability communities. This scholarship reflects a commitment to fostering academic growth and professional development, ensuring that all students have access to the resources they need to succeed.

The Arts in Social Service Grants from New Mexico Arts supports organizations focused on arts-based projects that tackle social issues affecting marginalized populations such as the incarcerated, homeless, and ill. With a two-year funding cycle starting in FY2026, eligible organizations can renew their applications for FY2027. This initiative fosters civic dialogues through artistic activities, encouraging community involvement in vital social discussions.

The Arts Learning in Schools and In Community grant by New Mexico Arts supports arts education for K-12 students in both school and community settings. It invites applications from charter schools, 501(c)(3) private schools, and organizations. This initiative emphasizes creative arts activities, integration into other subjects, and professional development for educators. Eligible organizations can renew applications for subsequent funding cycles, ensuring continued support for impactful arts programs.

New Mexico Arts offers Creative Support Funding to support arts organizations and presenters in various disciplines, including performing, visual, literary, media, multidisciplinary, and interdisciplinary arts. This funding is aimed at organizations with medium-sized budgets, specifically those with unrestricted income between $100,000 and $749,999. The program has transitioned to a two-year funding cycle starting in FY2026, allowing successful applicants to submit shorter renewal applications for FY2027.

Dr. Karen M. Trujillo Memorial Foundation STEM EDucator Scholarship

To support students who are in the STEM field at New Mexico State University.

The Diminished Tree Species Grant Program focuses on restoring native tree species crucial for biodiversity and forest health. By funding scientific research, seed orchard development, and land preservation, the program aims to combat climate change through effective tree restoration projects. The Oak Hill Fund, a private entity, encourages project-specific applications, prioritizing organizations that meet eligibility criteria under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS. This initiative is vital for sustaining healthy ecosystems and mitigating environmental impacts.

Friends of NRA

Friends of NRA is the National Rifle Association’s premier fundraising program, supporting the future of shooting sports. Since day one, Friends of NRA has been a 100% grassroots effort fueled by a united front to secure the Second Amendment and raise money for the shooting sports.

Committee volunteers are appointed to State Fund Committees to make recommendations for local grant funding in areas such as youth education, women-focused clinics, law enforcement training, hunter safety, range improvement, firearms and marksmanship training and safety. Recognizing the impact American youth has on the future of the shooting sports, State Fund Committees frequently recommend grants for youth programs, allocating the most significant portion of monies to this vital area.

Grant awards fund activities and support programs in the United States to promote firearms and hunting safety, to enhance marksmanship skills of those in the shooting sports, and to educate the public about firearms in their historic, technological and artistic context.

Friends of NRA State Fund Grant Program - New Mexico

The Friends of NRA State Fund Grant Program provides supplies, equipment, and financial support to a variety of qualified groups and programs at the local level; geared towards youth, women, law enforcement, veterans, the disabled, and the general public, including:

• General shooting programs
• Competitive shooting
• Education, training and safety
• Hunting and conservation
• Community outreach
• Historical education

Grant funding must be used to further a charitable purpose as defined by the Internal Revenue Code under section 501(c)(3) and accompanying rules, regulations, and other IRS law and materials.
