Pacific Redwoods Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples Crisis Action Fund

The Pacific Redwoods Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples Crisis Action Fund supports work being done to address the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples crisis in Northern California. Specifically, by providing grants to Tribes and non-profit organizations, the grants will support strengthening organizing, advocacy, technical assistance and capacity building for programs working to advance efforts in California.

The Brave Heart Fellowship, initiated by the Center for Native American Youth at the Aspen Institute, empowers Native youth aged 18-24 to lead in environmental justice and food sovereignty efforts. The Klamath River Fund: Community Impact Grant, initiated by the Humboldt Area Foundation and Wild Rivers Community Foundation, aims to enhance community-led climate resilience and restorative justice in the Klamath River Basin. This grant supports initiatives that prioritize racial equity, youth development, and environmental health. With funding requests starting at $10,000 and an average grant size of $50,000, it encourages partnerships and innovative projects that foster sustainable growth and well-being for local communities.

The Listos California Regional Grant Program aims to enhance disaster preparedness in California's Inland Region by supporting nonprofits that serve multiple counties. The program prioritizes equity and targets areas at high risk for disasters, enabling organizations to provide essential training and resources to diverse communities disproportionately affected by emergencies. Through collaboration with local nonprofits, it seeks to improve community resilience and response capabilities to future disasters.

The Proposition 68: Rivers and Streams Grant Program aims to restore and protect vital river and stream ecosystems in the Klamath-Trinity Watershed. With a funding of at least $5 million, projects focus on enhancing habitats for salmon and steelhead through activities like reconnecting floodplains, restoring riparian areas, and improving fish passage. This initiative emphasizes ecological restoration and sustainable management practices to benefit both wildlife and local communities.

Background & Purpose

The California Arts Council (CAC) is a statewide agency committed to serving California artists, arts organizations, and communities of all sizes and needs. Guided by racial equity principles, the CAC continuously evaluates its grantmaking practices to ensure fair and inclusive funding opportunities that sustain a vibrant, safe, and resilient creative ecosystem across the state.

Through regionally based Administering Organizations (AOs), the Individual Artists Fellowship (IAF) program uplifts and celebrates California artists across all disciplines and traditions, highlights their excellence and acknowledges their leadership in shaping traditional and contemporary cultures. The program includes three fellowship tiers with a different award amount:

CAC Emerging Artist Fellows – $5,000

Emerging artists are those in the beginning stages of making their work public and engaging the larger community in their practice.

CAC Established Artist Fellows – $10,000

Artists in the Established tier regularly make their work public and engage the larger community in their practice.

CAC Legacy Artist Fellows – $50,000

Artists in the Legacy tier can point to a significant body of work, produced over a substantial period of time, that has engaged their communities and that has made significant social impact.

The CAC approved eight regional AOs for the fellowship in September 2025. Each of the AOs has information and  details regarding their Individual Artists Fellowship programs, including application deadlines. If you are an individual artist, apply to the statewide fellowship program through the Regional AO listed below that serves your county. Please note: Individual artists must live in the region they are applying to and may submit an application to only one region.

Region 1: Upstate Administered by the Nevada County Arts Council (NCArts)

In partnership with California Arts Council, Nevada County Arts & Culture is honored to serve as the Administering Organization for the Upstate Individual Artists Fellowship. The California Arts Council (CAC) has selected Nevada County Arts & Culture to design and implement a fellowship program that supports individual artists and culture bearers across all disciplines. The Upstate Individual Artists Fellowship will provide unrestricted funding in support of the fellows’ artistic practice. 

Health professionals and researchers interested in clinical informatics training in Trinity County, California can access funding and mentorship through Kaiser Permanente’s TPMG Informatics Fellowship. Kaiser Permanente provides Trinity County health care and health IT professionals with a 1–2 year, full-time fellowship focused on data science, electronic health records, telemedicine, and other informatics tools to improve care delivery.

Catholic dioceses and parishes in Extension dioceses serving Trinity County, California can seek funding to construct, expand, or renovate Catholic churches and related facilities. Grants from Catholic Extension help under-resourced Catholic communities with projects like worship spaces, community halls, program areas, minister housing, and temporary structures, with awards up to US $100,000 including matching-challenge support for major projects.

Angel Fund

Grant Details

The Angel Fund provides small grants to support the unmet health needs of Humboldt County residents. Grants are made on a one-time basis, per person, per 365-day period. Items that are of a recurrent nature are generally not funded.

Average grants range in size from $50 – $250 (grants in excess of $500 are seldom approved). Decisions to grant funds are contingent upon funding criteria and the availability of funds at the time of review. 

There is a two-week turnaround processing time required for application review and check processing. The committee meets every Tuesday, with the exception of holidays. Occasionally the committee will ask for additional information before making a decision. This will often result in a longer turn-around time.

Trinity County, California Catholic ministries and diocesan offices in approved Extension Dioceses can access funding through Catholic Extension to sustain core pastoral and administrative services. Grants support salary subsidies for priests, women religious, lay leaders, and administrators, as well as essential operating costs like heating, minister travel, and other basic resources in under-resourced communities.

Trinity County, California governmental agencies, educational institutions, and 501(c)(3) nonprofits can access funding through PG&E Corporation Foundation for land stewardship, air quality, or water stewardship projects. One $100,000 grant will be awarded in each PG&E region, with priority for projects serving disadvantaged or vulnerable communities at any project stage.

Nonprofits, government entities, and state-recognized charities in Trinity County, California can seek funding for firearms safety, shooting sports, hunting safety, and marksmanship programs. The NRA Foundation offers US $3,000 - US $5,000 to support charitable, educational, and research activities that advance safe firearms use and public education in Northern California counties including Trinity.

The Building Leaders Grants by Catholic Extension aim to enhance the recruitment, education, and ongoing formation of church leaders. This initiative provides critical funding for the professional development of both ordained and lay leaders in mission dioceses. By fostering partnerships with various organizations, it addresses the need for trained ministers and supports various funding areas, including seminarian sponsorship and diaconate formation, ensuring a robust future for church leadership.

Trinity County, California nonprofits and other charitable organizations responding to or preparing for disasters can access funding through Humboldt Area Foundation’s Disaster Response & Resilience Fund. Grants support work around fires, earthquakes, flooding, and other natural or man-made disasters, with priority for immediate safety and urgent needs of the most vulnerable during active emergencies.

Public agencies planning freight and transportation infrastructure projects in Trinity County, California can apply for the Trade Corridor Enhancement Program to improve high-volume freight corridors. Focused on freight mobility and public infrastructure, the California Transportation Commission funds projects that enhance safety, reduce congestion and community impacts, and increase efficiency on designated trade and highway freight networks.

Nonprofit, public benefit, and tax-exempt organizations serving Trinity County, California can seek Humboldt Area Foundation’s Community Response Grants for urgent, unexpected, or one-time community needs. Focused on community services, this program supports projects that build partnerships, engage youth and residents, develop local leadership, leverage matching funds, and strengthen long-term organizational capacity, with awards up to US $10,000.

The Joseph & Vera Long Foundation offers grants targeted at non-profit organizations in Northern California and Hawaii. With larger grants ranging from $60,000 to $150,000 in the Spring and smaller grants from $10,000 to $40,000 in the Fall, the foundation focuses on supporting community-driven initiatives. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) compliant and align with the foundation's priorities, which include environmental conservation, youth development, maternal health, and healthy aging.

The PNC Foundation aims to enhance the lives of individuals in local communities through partnerships with nonprofit organizations. Their focus includes promoting educational opportunities, particularly for early childhood education, and supporting economic development initiatives. Grants are available for organizations that benefit low- to moderate-income families and enhance community growth. The foundation prioritizes programs that foster sustainability and diversity, ensuring a lasting impact on the communities they serve.

The Ben B. Cheney Foundation Grant supports community improvement projects in areas where Mr. Cheney's lumber company operated. Focused on one-time project grants, the foundation emphasizes sustainability and local support. Eligible applicants include public charities and government units primarily in Washington, Oregon, and California. The foundation prioritizes projects that invest in long-lasting community needs and demonstrate innovative solutions. Since 1975, it has supported over 1,200 organizations, making a significant impact in local communities.

The Hesed Foundation Grant supports charitable initiatives that promote social justice through Tzedakah and gemilut hasadim, which emphasize justice and loving kindness. This private foundation focuses on enhancing the welfare of underrepresented communities, particularly in the Boston area, NYC, and Northern California. Grants are awarded to nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) status, and the foundation prioritizes projects related to youth, education, health, and community building.

Friends of NRA

Friends of NRA is the National Rifle Association’s premier fundraising program, supporting the future of shooting sports. Since day one, Friends of NRA has been a 100% grassroots effort fueled by a united front to secure the Second Amendment and raise money for the shooting sports.

Committee volunteers are appointed to State Fund Committees to make recommendations for local grant funding in areas such as youth education, women-focused clinics, law enforcement training, hunter safety, range improvement, firearms and marksmanship training and safety. Recognizing the impact American youth has on the future of the shooting sports, State Fund Committees frequently recommend grants for youth programs, allocating the most significant portion of monies to this vital area.

Grant awards fund activities and support programs in the United States to promote firearms and hunting safety, to enhance marksmanship skills of those in the shooting sports, and to educate the public about firearms in their historic, technological and artistic context.

Friends of NRA State Fund Grant Program - California

The Friends of NRA State Fund Grant Program provides supplies, equipment, and financial support to a variety of qualified groups and programs at the local level; geared towards youth, women, law enforcement, veterans, the disabled, and the general public, including:

• General shooting programs
• Competitive shooting
• Education, training and safety
• Hunting and conservation
• Community outreach
• Historical education

Grant funding must be used to further a charitable purpose as defined by the Internal Revenue Code under section 501(c)(3) and accompanying rules, regulations, and other IRS law and materials.

Trinity Trust

The Trinity Trust makes grants exclusively for the benefit of the residents of Trinity County California.

Trinity County Summer Youth Program

For the past 20 years Trinity Trust has been committed to supporting programs that provide opportunities for children and youth to learn, play and develop in a safe, productive setting. Grants will be awarded to non-profit organizations serving Trinity County youth for programs offered between June 1 and September 1.

Average Grant Size: The average grant awarded will be $500. However, we recognize that some Summer Programs have special needs, and will consider applications of over $500 in some circumstances.

Grant resources are limited, so we ask that you apply for only what is sincerely needed. This funding is stretched to meet the needs of an enormous number of extremely valuable Summer Programs in Trinity County, and we want to provide support to as many programs as possible.

Individuals in Trinity County, California planning public projects about native plants can use this grant for gardening, landscaping, nature walks, library projects, or plant studies. Focused on plant science and landscape architecture, the California Native Plant Society’s Shasta Chapter offers Oak Tree Grants of US $500 for monetary or material needs like plants, literature, and supplies.

Arts and culture 501(c)(3) nonprofits in Trinity County, California can apply for Rocky Mountain Power Foundation’s arts and culture cycle, with awards of US $2,000 - US $5,000 for performing and visual arts, historic preservation, and cross-cultural education projects. Eligible organizations must serve communities within the Rocky Mountain Power or Pacific Power service areas.

Sky Lakes Medical Center Foundation

The Sky Lakes Medical Center Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to advancing the mission of Sky Lakes Medical Center through philanthropy—raising, managing, and distributing funds to support the hospital’s programs, capital equipment needs, patient assistance and community health initiatives. 

Since its founding in 1985, the Foundation has relied on the generosity of hundreds of donors—from former patients to local businesses—to help maintain high-quality, patient-focused care for the region.

The Linkville IPA Fund Scholarship

The Linkville IPA Scholarship Fund provides awards of up to $10,000 per year to support medical students enrolled full-time in an accredited or certified medical school. The program prioritizes applicants from the Klamath Basin, those planning to enter primary care fields such as family medicine, pediatrics, or internal medicine, and those intending to return to practice in the Klamath Basin or other rural or underserved areas. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0, be in good academic standing, and funds are distributed only upon verification of full-time medical school enrollment and eligibility documentation.
